Chisel Edged Brush Lettering
October 14 - 16 (Weekend)
at Cedar Lakes, Ripley WV
The brush is one of the oldest tools used for writing. The Roman Capitals were first written with a brush before they were chiseled into the stone.
Tradionally, sign painters have used the flat brush as one of their main tools. The brush allows for much freedom of movement and expression - which also calls for a bit of practice to master its complexities.
Participants will run through exercises that will help them gain control of this tool A basic hand will be demonstrated, progressing to more gestural expressions. The brush allows one to write on a variety of materials and learning to control the brush will improve you pen work.
